Myotonic Dystrophy: Cataract Nearly 100% of patients with myotonic dystrophy have a cataract. It is an opacity that radiates from the center of the lens like Christmas tree branches. It may impair vision.
Other ophthalmic complicationsSome patients also have a pigmentary retinopathy, consisting of macular ring-like ("bull's-eye") depigmentation and a peripheral salt-and-pepper pigment alteration. This retinopathy may reduce visual acuity and night vision slightly.
