The University of Michigan has a broad installed base
of Novell NetWare servers. NetWare servers provide secure file and print
services for departments throughout Central, Engineering, and Medical
campuses in Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn.

CURRENT INSTALLED BASE
The U-M NetWare environment consists of about 150 NetWare 5.1, 6.0 and 6.5 servers. These servers are on the centrally administered
Michigan tree. Additionally, a handful of NetWare 4.x servers continue
to serve some departments.
NETWARE SECURITY
Information Technology Central Services, under the direction of the
University of Michigan Information Technology Security Education and Coordinated
University Response (ITSECUR) Core Team, has prepared Security
Top Test Lists for the major LAN environments on campus. The Novell
