How to Reset Your Computer's Clock for the Start of Daylight Saving Time

Windows XP

NOTE: You must have administrator rights—rights to change the system—to access the Date/Time control panel. If you need to change the time and are unable to open the control panel, contact your system administrator.

  1. Double-click the digital time display in the task bar (lower left corner of your screen).
  2. In the Date and Time Properties window, select the Time Zone tab.
  3. Make sure the correct time zone is displayed. Change it if necessary.
  4. Check the Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes checkbox. As long as the box is checked, future Daylight Saving Time changes will occur automatically.
  5. Click OK.

Windows Vista

  1. Click the digital time display in the task bar (lower left corner of your screen).
  2. Click Change date and time settings.
  3. In the Date and Time window, click the Change time zone button.
  4. Make sure the correct time zone is displayed. Change it if necessary.
  5. Check the checkbox next to Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK again.
