Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) is replacing distribution layer switches (DLS) in an additional 37 campus buildings this year. The upgrades began last year in 18 buildings and will continue through the next two years in 70 more. The switch connects local area networks to the UMnet Backbone and then to the Internet. Each building will get one new Ethernet-linked switch at no cost. Units that wish to provide a second, redundant switch or a higher-speed link may purchase these items from ITCom. For more information visit the DLS project website. Direct questions about building upgrades to the appropriate project manager.
