Direct User Support and More

  • ITCom Customer Service Center
    Assistance for U-M's voice, video, and data services.
  • ITCS Accounts Office
    Assists with computing accounts, subscriptions, uniqnames, passwords, and billing inquiries regarding ITCS services (including dial-in and U-M Online).
  • ITCS Consultants (764-HELP)
    This telephone help line is staffed by consultants who can answer a wide variety of Basic Computing Package questions. You can also contact the consultants via e-mail at online.consulting@umich.edu.
  • ITCS Stat Service Admin (itcs-stats.admin@umich.edu)
    Users of the ITCS Statistics and Computation Service can send mail to itcs-stats.admin to request free additional file space, as well as general Unix support and access to other software.
  • IT User Advocate
    Receives and investigates reports of U-M technology and information policy violations as they pertain to U-M-provided resources. Provides IT policy interpretation and information to help students, faculty, and staff understand University and departmental policy, including the responsible use of shared resources.
  • Postmaster
    Helps people with mail delivery problems as well as fielding "dead letter" rejection messages, which are e-mail messages that for some reason cannot be delivered to their intended recipients.
  • Telephone, Video, and Data Circuit Repair
    ITCom repairs telephone, video, and data circuits; equipment rented from ITCom, and some customer-owned equipment covered under maintenance agreements with ITCom.

  • Virus Busters
    Assists the U-M community with the control and prevention of computer viruses.
  • Webmaster/U-M Web Team
    The U-M Web team is the part of ITCS responsible for the care and feeding of the University of Michigan's central web infrastructure.

Technical/Second-Tier Support

  • U-M Online Directory Administration Team (diradmin@umich.edu)
    Provides technical and second-level support for the U-M Online Directory.
  • Hostmaster (hostmaster@umich.edu)
    Handles Domain Name Registration (DNS). Also offers DHCP service for any school or department network on campus.
  • IFS Support (ifs-support@umich.edu)
    Provides technical and second-level support for use of IFS.
  • ITCom
    This ITCom web page provides contact information for many groups within ITCom.
  • ITCom Project Managers
    These people help assigned units meet their departmental voice, video and data networking goals and also help units with the planning and installation activities related to voice, video, and data networks and systems.
  • MyServer Support (myserver.support@umich.edu)
    Provides support for the use of MyServer at U-M.
  • Network Operations Center (NOC)
    Network administrators can report voice, data, and video problems to noc@umich.edu. Other individuals should report data/video problems to their network administrator, who will then contact the NOC if necessary.
  • UMnet Administration
    Supports the network administrators at U-M, coordinates the networking infrastructure and network numbers on campus, and maintains the UMnet Backbone and UM Backbone Interconnect Network (UMBIN) infrastructures.
