Information Technology Central Services at the University of Michigan
Information Especially for Campus IT Staff

IT Collaborations

  • Common Campus Exchange Service
A campus-wide Microsoft Exchange service allowing departments to provide sophisticated e-mail and calendaring to their users through an integrated, central offering. This service resulted from an IT Commons-based discussion among LS&A, Engineering, the Business School, and ITCS; it is run and managed by ITCS.
  • Enterprise Directory (in development)
Launched via the ITCommons to create a visionary architecture and plan for identity management, roles, data sharing and reconciliation, and directory services that reach far beyond the current system and organization constraints.
  • Footprints (request tracking)
A collaborative FootPrints server is maintained by ITCS, the College of LS&A, and the School of Information.
  • ITCommons
Defining a new collaborative method for decision making about information technology that fits with the highly distributed nature of our institution, but reflects our desire and need for coordination.
  • Windows Update Services
A number of departments on campus have deployed Windows Update Servers (also known as Software Update Servers or SUS) to provide security updates for their users. Because this service scales so well, they are willing to offer this service to the campus community.
