Using Calendar-Only with Your E-Mail Program

You'll receive e-mail invitations in your e-mail program, but how you are accept them and enter them into your calendar depends on the program you're using.

If you use the web-based mail.umich.edu, Thunderbird, or Eudora, please carefully read the appropriate section. If you use a different e-mail program, please ask your system administrator how to use it with Exchange Calendar-Only.

mail.umich.edu

The web-based mail.umich.edu can be confusing. You'll see a meeting invitation combined with an opporturnity to accept the invitation. Don't be fooled!

CAUTION! Accepting the invitation in mail.umich.edu will send your reply to the requester but does not schedule the meeting in your calendar. You must use OWA or Outlook to enter the meeting in your calendar.

Thunderbird

You'll receive notification of meeting requests as text messages. You can reply to the requester that you accept the proposal, but this does not enter the meeting in your calendar.

CAUTION! Sending an acceptance reply in Thunderbird to the requester does not schedule the meeting in your calendar. You must use OWA or Outlook to enter the meeting in your calendar.
