Pine does not require special configuration on your part. However, here are instructions for fixing a couple of problems people have noticed.

If Pine does not display your folders, follow these instructions to get Pine to display them:

1. At Pine's Main Menu screen, type s for Set up.
2. At the Set up screen, type l for List.
3. Make sure that IMAP Server is highlighted.
4. Press the Return/Enter key.
5. You will see several settings:
• Nickname should stay as it is (IMAP Server).
• The Server should be mail.umich.edu.
• You will likely see mail/ listed as the Path. Delete this text. Path should be blank.
6. Hold down the Control key and type x to exit the Set up screen.
7. Type e to return to the Main Menu.

To get rid of the [/] following folder names in Pine, follow these instructions:

1. Go to the Pine Main menu.
2. Type s for Setup.
3. Type c for Config.
4. Find quell-empty-directories (it is under Folder Preferences) and set it (highlight it, then type x to set it).
5. Find separate-folder-and-directory-entries (it is under Folder Preferences) and set it (highlight it, then type x to set it).
6. Type e to exit configuration. Save your changes
