E-Mail Configuration: Mulberry
S4231 • October 2006

If you download the U-M preconfigured version of Mulberry, you don't need to do any configuration of your own. However, we provide manual configuration instructions for those who wish to configure Mulberry themselves or make changes to their current configuration.

Downloading the Pre-Configured Version

Please use Mulberry v. 3.1.5 or 3.1.6; these are the versions that ITCS supports. Mulberry is available on the web or or on disc already pre-configured for connecting to the ITCS e-mail service:

  • Download it from the web. You can download Mulberry from the Mulberry support page.
IMPORTANT! Windows users need to remove older versions of Mulberry and Kerberos before upgrading. See instructions below.
  • Get it on a disc. Mulberry is on the Blue Disc.

Additional Instructions for Windows Users

Before using the ITCS Mulberry installer (mulberry_individual.exe), do the following:
  1. Determine if Kerberos is running on your computer. For most users, this means looking for the lock-and-hasp icon in the system tray (bottom right-hand corner of the screen). If that icon is present, Kerberos is running; exit the program.
  2. If you have an IFS volume mounted on your computer (such as your home directory), unmount it.
  3. Using the Add/Remove Programs control panel, remove any of the following programs:
    • Mulberry
    • Samba
    • Kerberos
    • Kerberos Authentication

  4. If you removed any of these programs, restart your computer before running the mulberry_individual.exe installer.
