E-Mail Configuration: Entourage (v. 11.2) for Mac OS X
Follow the instructions here if you use the ITCS IMAP e-mail service.
ATTENTION ITCS EXCHANGE SERVICE USERS: If you use Entourage with the ITCS Exchange Service, follow the configuration instructions in Setting Up Entourage/Exchange on a Macintosh (S4328).
If you use the setup wizard, provide this information when asked:
- E-mail address: uniqname@umich.edu (where you have replaced uniqname with your own uniqname)
- Incoming mail server: mail.umich.edu
- Incoming mail server type: IMAP
- Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.mail.umich.edu
At this point, you will not yet be able to access you mail. Follow the instructions below to choose additional settings:
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
- Select the account you wish to modify from the Accounts box, and click the Edit icon.
- Make these settings. Type your own name in place of Your Name, and type your own uniqname in place of uniqname.
Under Receiving mail, type mail.umich.edu for your IMAP server
Then click the Click here for advanced receiving options button.
- In the box that opens, check the checkbox next to This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL). Then close that window by clicking the tiny box in its upper left corner.
- Under Sending mail, type smtp.mail.umich.edu for your SMTP server.
Then click the Click here for advanced sending options button.
- In the pop-up dialog box that opens, do the following:
Check the SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
Check the Override default SMTP port checkbox, and type 465 for the port number.
Check the SMTP server requires authentication checkbox.
Click the Use same settings as receiving mail server radio button.
Then close the pop-up dialog box by clicking the tiny box in its upper left corner.
- Click OK, and close the Accounts window.
