File Sharing

Copyright infringement is a violation of University policy and may result in legal action. Many users of peer-to-peer sites and software programs unwittingly upload illegal files.

To better inform the U-M community, the University has developed BAYU, a tool that notifies individuals when they have engaged in illegal file sharing on U-M's online network.

However, the University allows users to share legal files on the internet. IFS space may be used to publicly share files.
