Windows Mobile 5.0 FAQ

I don't want my device to be password-protected. What can I do?

If you're not interested in using your Mobile 5.0 device with the ITCS Exchange Service, then either don't configure your device for it or elect not to establish a password when you are first asked.

If you want your mobile device to access the ITCS Exchange Service but are opposed to the extra security password protection provides, you can either:

  • use a Palm OS Treo
  • use a Windows Mobile 5.0 device with an operating system version prior to 5.1.195
  • use a Windows Mobile 2003 device
These three options all provide limited feature sets compared to Windows Mobile 5.0 version 5.1.195 and later. We suspect at some point, you'll want existing and newer features, so why not be extra secure now by upgrading to 5.1.195?
