Exchange General FAQ: Getting Started

What is my Exchange password, and how do I change it?

Whether you use Windows or Mac OS X, Exchange uses your Windows Active Directory password. If you have not yet created this password or want to change it:

  1. Connect to https://accounts.itcs.umich.edu/kpasswd/.
TYPE THE URL EXACTLY: Note the "s" in https and the forward slash (/) at the end.
  2. Click the Windows Active Directory tab.
    • Clicking the Windows Active Directory tab

  3. In the Weblogin window, enter your uniqname and UMICH Kerberos password, then click Log In.
HINT: You use your uniqname and UMICH Kerberos password to access your personal information in Wolverine Access.
    • Weblogin window

  4. In the Windows Active Directory tab:
HINT: Review the brief password guidelines at the bottom of the web page.

    1. If you don't have a Windows Active Directory password, enter the one you want in the New Password field.
CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD? Enter your new password in this field. Do not enter your existing password.
    2. Re-enter your new password in the Retype New Password field.
    3. Click Reset Windows Active Directory Password.

If you know your password, you can also change it — and passwords for departmental mailbox accounts — by logging onto Outlook Web Access (OWA).

  1. On the left side of the OWA window, click the Options tab.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the Options page and click Change Password.
  3. Follow the prompts.
