Information Technology Central Services at the University of Michigan
M-Community

MCommunity will allow the University to know who is and is not a member of the U-M community so that central University offices—as well as departments, schools, colleges, and campuses—can grant and remove access to online resources as needed and appropriate.

It will provide identity management, roles management, data sharing and reconciliation, and directory services for U-M. It will bring together data from multiple institutional sources and will organize, present, and secure the data in a way that is particularly well suited to managing access to University resources.

Status

As of April 2008, the project team has completed four rounds of integration testing—testing to see how the code modules developed thus far integrate and work together. The emphasis was on creating a repository for directory data and setting up data feeds into it. System testing will be completed by the end of April.

The project is on track to complete the June 2008 deliverables listed in the MCommunity Timeline in conjunction with MAIS's scheduled upgrade of its PeopleSoft software (the software behind M-Pathways). The most visible deliverable will be the MCommunity Sponsor System.
