Computing Site

The Adaptive Technology Computing Site (ATCS) is an ergo-assistive work/study computing environment for students, faculty and staff as well as a source of computer accommodation information for the campus community.

ATCS meets the computing and information technology needs of individuals with temporary or ongoing physical, visual, learning and ergonomic impairments. Specialized hardware and software is provided at nine workstations, some of which are equipped with adjustable-height work surfaces and all of which are equipped with adjustable seating and 21-inch or larger high-resolution monitors. Each workstation is oversized to accommodate a personal assistant or canine companion.

The Herman Miller Furniture Company designed the ATCS in 1995 in conjunction with U-M's Barrier Free Computer Users Group (bfcug@umich.edu). Information and Technology Services supports the ATCS as part of Campus Computing Sites.
