Getting a Uniqname—
Temporary Employees on the Ann Arbor Campus
(who are not students)
Some temporary employees have their uniqname and password created for them by the ITCS Accounts Office, either in response to their own request or the request of departmental staff on their behalf. Accounts Office staff create the uniqname using Webuniq (the web interface to the uniqname system) and/or uns (the command-line interface). The department fills out the online U-M Sponsored Uniqname Application form to request a uniqname for a temporary employee.
Some temporary employees have their uniqname and password created for them by a departmental uniqname administrator.
If a department wants the temporary employee to have the Basic Computing Package, the department designates a funding source and asks the ITCS Accounts Office staff to set it up.
