Getting a Uniqname
Faculty on the Ann Arbor Campus
Most faculty have their uniqname and password created for them by the ITCS Accounts Office, either in response to their own request or the request of departmental staff on their behalf. Accounts Office staff create the uniqname using Webuniq (the web interface to the uniqname system) and/or uns (the command-line interface). They then set up the Basic Computing Package for the faculty member (using a system called ABSAccounting and Billing System).
Some faculty have their uniqname and password created for them by a departmental uniqname administrator. Departmental administrators also use Webuniq to create uniqnames. Once the uniqname has been created, the faculty member or departmental staff can contact the ITCS Accounts to request that the Basic Computing Package be set up.
Departmental staff can fill in an online Faculty Uniqname Application to request a uniqname for a faculty member.
